Unity – mystery or reality? by Bruce Wadd
I love autumn! In Australia it means the start of the footy season! I allow myself to watch rugby league, because I am inspired by the toughness and heroics of the players.
As I look at each team, I realize they are amazingly different. When the teams run onto the field, they look great, energetically posturing, readying themselves for a tough battle.
My favourite team, the Brisbane Broncos, has many excellent qualities, but as each game develops the true character of the team really shows through. Are they united as a team, or are they merely playing as a group of individuals on the same field?
The other night’s game showed some of the true qualities of the Broncos. There were times when unity showed through - players running off each other, ready for off-loads, putting key players into gaps for scoring. That’s when unity really counts!
Togetherness really shows through when they are in the midst of ‘battle’, when the score line is against them, and the injuries and tiredness have taken their toll.
The same is true of God’s family. Our unity isn’t really tested till the battle. I’m sure I don’t need to remind you that our battle is with hidden powers, a war that is impossible on our own, but with God and fellow believers we are assured of victory!
Here’s the most important element…
“Let love guide your life, for then the whole church will stay together in
perfect harmony.”
TODAY, let’s be a team, and support each other!
