Just looking
I had lost them again. My glasses! I went to my bedroom and glanced around. No, I couldn’t see them, so they couldn’t be there after all. I hastened to the family room. The little table I’d sat at, didn’t contain them either. That was strange! It had to be in one of those two places. Of that, I was sure, so I back-tracked to my room.
This time, I didn’t just glance around. I really looked. My desk was filled with books, files, pens, a few photographs, odds and ends and more. A quick scan of my work place assured me my glasses were not there.
Leaving the room, with my glasses clutched firmly in my hand, I thought long and hard. How often have I really searched for God’s truth or God’s ways in my life?
When I did, I always found it and I have been sure of His leading. But there were other times, when my ‘looking’ has not been as thorough. I have perhaps been too preoccupied with other things or been afraid of yielding to Him fully, so I have missed God’s thoughts towards me.
How important it is to search intently, as though our lives depended on it, especially when we are seeking after God’s truth!

walked around to my bedside table. Lo and behold, there sat my glasses in
between two piles of books. I would not have found it if I hadn’t walked
right up to it.
