1. New music

As the Music Pastor for 15,000 worshippers each weekend, and as a teacher and advisor on worship for the over 150,000 pastors and church leaders from 60 denominations and over 100 countries who have attended Purpose Driven Church Conferences, Rick Muchow has certainly taught and led many to a deeper intimacy with God over his 13 years at Saddleback Church.  Check out Rick’s two new songs “All About Love” and “Fall On Me” on ShareSong.org now!  For more details on Rick’s albums and resources visit www.encouragingmusic.com!

Highest Praise Productions are THE leaders in praise and worship music on the Internet.  Their mp3.com/highestpraise has a massive amount of traffic with $8,400 in Playback for Playback earnings (i.e. lots of people love them!).  After many moths of talking about it, we’ve now got the entire HPP catalogue of 36 songs available through ShareSong.org.  It’s a great privilege and to have Fred McKinnon and his team aboard.
Andrew Ironside is a high profile and prolific songwriter and worship leader based in Brisbane, Australia who has put out numerous worship albums over the years.  He’s got a gutsy Aussie style that will blow you away!  Check out the nine great new songs now available through ShareSong.org.
Troy Kennedy is the Associate Minister of Music at Saddleback Church in Southern California. His new CD, “Let the People Praise Him”, contains an energetic and diverse selection of songs that have been a part of the worship services at Saddleback Church and many Purpose Driven Churches around the world.

Total songs: 500

Songwriters = 70

New songs this month = 70

2. CCLI Stamp of Approval

We’ve endeavoured to develop ShareSong.org to be congruent with established systems such as Christian Copyright Licensing International.

This month we have been chatting to Rod Rachinski, Vice President of the North American operations of CCLI who had a thorough look at the ShareSong.org Legal Agreements had some encouraging feedback:

Let me commend you for your desire to provide worship resource for the church and at the same time remain sensitive to the legal copyright issues…  It looks like a great opportunity for the independent songwriters to gain greater exposure!

3. To infinity and beyond… Manifesto Review

Twelve months ago ShareSong.org started out with a small group of people in Brisbane, Australia.  In this time, God has blessed us greatly and we’ve seen all out planned milestone met in the anticipated timeframes, as well as making a whole pile of friends from all over the world along the way.

At this juncture we would like to review where we’ve been and where we want to go from here.  As much as possible, we want ShareSong.org to be run by the songwriters for the songwriters and the international church.  In order to achieve this, we are aiming to set up a structure that can easily involve people from all over the world and will endure as things continue to flourish and grow.

We’ve put together a review document to question some of the things in the current Manifesto and to stimulate brainstorming about the future of ShareSong.org.  If you are interested in having a look at this document and adding your comments to melting pot, check out http://sharesong.org/manifesto_review.htm.

4. ShareSong.org First Birthday Party Recording

The crew from Brisbane, Australia are currently planning a “ShareSong.org First Birthday Party Recording Party” where people who have written praise and worship music can come along, share what they are doing with other people in their local scene and have it recorded for publication on ShareSong.org.

We hope that this will set the example for others to follow worldwide.  It’s really quite simple and cheap to produce a reasonable live recording to be posted on the Internet and shared with the world!  Check out http://sharesong.org/ssrecording.htm to see what we’re planning.

5. Songwriters and worship leaders discussion lists

The ShareSong.org Writers discussion list has really taken off in the last few weeks with lots of exiting collaboration and mentoring of new songwriters going on.  Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sharesongwriters if you’re interested in joining the 45 songwriters who are putting their heads together to write some great praise and worship music.

In view of the recent explosion of the ShareSong.org Writers list, we thought it might be time to start a worship leaders discussion list where people can chew through issues related to worship leading like:

- What new songs have you used that have been successful in your Church?
- I'm looking for a song for a certain situation, what should I try? or
- I tried this song and it bombed, maybe the writer should try such and such next time.

We hope that we will be able to develop a degree of community amongst the people who are using ShareSong.org as well as gaining some feedback on the site and the songs it contains.
Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ssworshipleaders if you are interested in joining.

In Him and for His glory!
