Go to sleep

by Bruce Wadd

This morning I woke to the soothing tones of rain on the tin roof.  Immediately this took me back to childhood memories of lying in bed with the blankets up around my neck, letting to gentle tones of falling rain seep into my whole body and sooth me into a slumber.

There was also a time when mum used to come into my room and scratch my back as I was going to sleep.  The slight hint of sharp fingernail going up and down the warm skin of my back – what a way to go to sleep!

I am sure you have your own pleasing ways of going to sleep. Which ever one it is, take that soothing method and let’s explore it for a moment. What makes it work for you? What are the important elements that are so enjoyable?

Are you searching for a soothing solution to some area of your life? Why not try God?  Let Him be the rain! Let Him scratch your back!

My question to you today… are you willing to trust Him? To let Him soothe your jaded nerves? Allow Him to provide an answer to your tension?

“But true praise is a worthy sacrifice;

this really honours me.  Those who walk my paths will receive salvation from the Lord.”

Psalms 50:23

Let God soothe your life by praising Him, today!
