WIAWOL, Remnant, Garry Mulgrew & Forefront Worship Band
I
was listening to a Focus on the Family session recently with Dr James
Dobson. He talked about how
eighteen years ago he did a program on hymns vs contemporary choruses in
the church. Although he took
a middle of the road view on the matter, he was swamped with more
passionate letters of response from both camps than any other issue!
Isn’t it amazing how we can get so passionate people can get about church culture and music rather than the really important things about the Christian life?
Praise and worship music is such a wonderful way of giving glory to God and coming closer to Him. But we must never loose sight of the fact that biblical worship is so much more than songs. It’s what we do with our whole life! It’s the way we serve other people and show that we love them, and the God that made them in His image.
“Therefore, I urge
you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of
worship.” Romans 12:1
The
WIAWOL – “Worship Is
A Way Of Life” ministry has been doing very well on
ShareSong.org recently on the strength of their song writing.
This group of songwriters from North Carolina continue to churn out
wide variety of wonderful worship songs for free use by the church
international. If you
haven’t checked them out yet, you should!
Remnant
Worship,
from Canada, has just released their debut album “Holy Vine”. It’s
an eclectic mix of youth orientated fresh worship music.
Remnant began as a real hearts cry to see worship be offered up in
unity amongst believers in the Tri-City area near Vancouver, BC. Three
worship leaders, Craig Bateman, Mike Friesen, and Ben Gadd formed the core
for this new group and others were brought in to draw from the well of
gifting in the local body of Christ. The group is currently leading
worship locally and promoting the project at various churches. Remnant
looks forward to touring this spring and summer while also working on
other recording projects involving different members of the group.
Forefront
Worship Band is
writing and leading praise and worship for the next generation of Jesus
Freaks. Their style is raw, unapologetic and dripping with life! This
isn't music for the timid. Forefront
Church is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and is one of the fastest
growing Gen-x churches in the country. Forefront’s vision in writing
worship music is to not only lead people to an encounter with God, but
also to capture the listener with fresh sounding tunes that presents the
worshipper with both unique and challenging lyrics as well as hooks
foreign to the worship music genre. Edgy and fresh, when it comes to the
worship music market this stuff is different!
Garry
Mulgrew
has
released two CDs, "Pour Out Your Spirit" and the live recording,
“Like Passion” and uploaded these songs to the ShareSong.org to be
shared freely for God’s glory.
Garry’s songs are user friendly.
Many worship leaders have found them easy to incorporate them
into their Sunday services.
We
just sent out a mail out of a number of ShareSong.org related CDs (ShareSong.org
Sampler, ShareSong.org Live and Dennis Burnett’s “Beyond Natural
Limits”) to radio stations all over Australia in the hope of getting
some more profile for ShareSong.org through radio play.
The
daily stats continue to increase (now nearly 4000 downloads per day!) as
people tell their friends about what is happening at ShareSong.org.
