Kill or be killed

by Bruce Wadd

Wayne Bennett, the famous coach of the Brisbane Broncos rugby league team, commented after suffering another painful loss.  He was trying to help the adoring Queensland fans come to terms with their team’s second State of Origin demise.

“When you play football you know that execution is everything because when you don’t execute you can get killed.”

People were trying to resurrect their parochial pride.  The coach was reaching deep inside the player’s self belief, searching for a speck of hope for their third and final game. It was a difficult time for both players and coach alike!

Today, I wanted to link the idea of poor execution in sport with being a Christian.  Jesus’ death was eternity’s ultimate execution, a journey of choice in love, so that you could have life.

Your daily life can be one of belief in Him… living life to the full!

Let me put it another way…you need to execute, Christian style, or be captured by the opposition! The forces of evil are continually trying to overtake your life, and the only way to success is within the safety of Jesus’ guidance.

“I am the Light of the world.  So if you follow me, you won’t be stumbling through the darkness,

for living light will flood your path.”

John 8:12

TODAY, accept Jesus’ killing as your own death… or be killed by sin!
