It’s a write off

by Bruce Wadd

My wife had an accident in her car.  A truck drove into the side of her treasured sports car.  She wasn’t injured, but the vehicle was all smashed down one side.

The insurance called and said it was being towed to a particular yard, and they would call the next day.  True to their word, the phone call was received.  “Good morning, madam,” they began politely, “we believe your car is a write-off, and we are offering you $...... as a pay out.”

My wife questioned the price, knowing that it was close to true market value, and they said it was a ‘touch and go’.  It possibly could be repaired economically, but then they asked whether we would like a car that’s been in a serious accident.

Within moments we decided to accept the offer and began looking for a new car!

In a way you and I are write-offs.  Luckily God is not really about the repair business.  No, He’s in the business of transformation; old becoming new; the caterpillar becoming the butterfly.

“And I will give you a new heart –

I will give you new and right desires –

and put a new spirit within you.

I will take out your stony hearts of sin

and give you new hearts of love.”

Ezekiel 36:26

TODAY, let God renew you… by being written-off!
