A word of authority by
Do you know the power of the spoken word? That you have been given an amazing authority with your tongue? Let me tell a short yet painfully personal story to illustrate.
I remember clearly a particular moment when the power of the spoken word became truly evident. My father, a very practical person, had asked me to assist with fixing the carburettor on the car. I dutifully stood there, waiting for the next direction.
Dad asked me to put some screws back into a certain part of the engine, and flippantly said, “…but don’t drop those screws, will you?”, and walked away.
The mechanical work began, and as I got to the point of putting in the screws I just couldn’t stop my mind working overtime, fearing the consequences of dropping those precious pieces of metal.
And yes, you guessed it! As the hand moved over the ‘carby’ one screw dislodged from my nervous grasp, falling into the most awkward place possible.
The displeasure of digging the screw out has been indelibly etched in my memory bank. What intrigues me though, even to this day, is the power of the spoken word as both a negative and positive influence!
What have you said today? Who have you influenced with your tongue? Do you need to change what you’ve said?
“Be patient and you
will finally win,
TODAY, take charge! Only speak a positive and powerful word of authority!
