Wolping

by Karen Collum

The vocabulary of two-year-old Samuel is expanding every day. Unfortunately, he doesn’t come with a translator!

One of his favourite words at the moment is ‘wolp’.  You won’t find it in the dictionary, but if you were to observe Samuel for a while you would soon see what it means.

Sitting on the kitchen bench he says, “Samuel 'wolp' Mummy get dinner.” Shadowing his father to the wood pile he smiles at me and calls, “Samuel 'wolping' Daddy chop wood.”  Patting the family dog he declares, “Samuel 'wolp' take Ruby walk.”

‘Wolping’ is obviously very important to young Samuel.

How do you feel about helping?  Are you as excited as Sam at the prospect of helping look after the house, taking care of the animals or relieving someone else’s burden?

“In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus.

Christ himself was like God in everything.

But He did not think that being equal with God

was something to be used for His own benefit.

But He gave up His place with God and

made Himself nothing.  He was born to be a man

and became like a servant.”

Philippians 2:5-7

Today, are ready to be a servant for God and ‘wolp’ others?
