Lessons of a window cleaner

by Bruce Wadd

One of our regular household chores needing attention is window cleaning. We usually attack the job together, me on the outside and my wife on the inside.

Let me share some of the things I discovered whilst rubbing. You can draw the conclusions!

  • I can’t clean her side, she can’t clean mine!

  • We give each other the permission to point out dirty spots!

  • As much as I may want a particular spot cleaned, I still can’t do anything about her side, except point it out. It’s then up to her to do something about it, if she choses.

  • She needs to find the spot, acknowledge that it is on her side, and be willing to clean it.

  • The more carefully and thoughtfully I point out the blemishes, the more likely the cleaning will happen.

  • Things work more fluently, when as the blemish are pointed out, the other person responds quickly.

  • Window cleaning takes time and effort, but the glistening transparency is worthwhile!

Here’s one of God’s hints for better relationships!

“Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results.” James 5:16

TODAY, let your windows sparkle!
