What’s in a name?

by Bruce Wadd

When you meet someone for the first time, how often does their name go from your memory banks in the first few seconds?

Embarrassing, isn’t it?

Alternatively, when someone uses your name several times in a conversation over the phone, it subtly gets your attention! Isn’t it amazing how using someone’s name can be so powerful?

The Sunday morning of Jesus’ resurrection, Mary was the first person to discover the loss of His body.  In distress she ends up asking a gardener the whereabouts of the missing body.  The response revealed great intimacy - it was only one word, her name!

Do you know His voice? He calls for you every day, and always uses your name. Are you listening?

“The gatekeeper opens the gate for him,
and the sheep hear His voice and come to Him;
He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out.
He walks ahead of them; and they follow him,
for they recognize his voice.”
John 10:3

TODAY, listen for His voice, and respond when He calls!
