Where can I wash my hands?

by Bruce Wadd

In my home we have a rule which is sometimes adhered to.  When I have been working in the garden, I am supposed to wash my hands in the laundry basin, not in the clean bathroom basin.

Now, I can understand the logic, keeping the dirt in a place where you expect things to be dirtier.  But there is something ‘nice’ about washing your filthy hands in the bathroom.  The appliances are nicer, there is better quality soap, and the towels are much softer.

Believe it or not, this whole question then made me wonder about the purpose of church.  Why do we do ‘church’, if for no other reason than for ‘dirty’ people to be washed clean?

Shouldn’t the ‘dirtiest’ people be coming inside the doors of our church on a daily basis?  Shouldn’t we be leading them to a place of cleanliness?

Is your church like that?  Are you the kind of person that people feel refreshed and renewed after having been around? Does your church hunger to make sick people well?

Remember…

“God did not send his Son into the world

to condemn it, but to save it.”

John 3:17

TODAY, lead people to Jesus for a cleansing!
