Volcano depths

by Bruce Wadd

Whether you are talking about Mount Karthala in the Comoros archipelago, the famous Mount Vesuvius in the Mediterranean or the numerous other active volcanoes around the world, they all deliver destructive force from their depths.

These mounds of earth formed over many years give us a brief opening into the inner workings of our world. At times they can be majestic mountains of tremendous beauty, but at others they hold incredible amounts of destructive power.

Human emotions, likewise, come from our depths. Feelings of anger, self-pity, insecurity, jealousy – to name a few – well up inside, often without explanation. If not controlled or well directed, they too hold destructive powers.

When God comes in and changes your life, something unusual begins to happen – the emotions begin to change to praise and thankfulness, rising from the depths of your being.

God changes hearts, including yours and mine!

“From the bottom of my heart praise rises to Him!

Where is His equal in all of heaven and earth?

Who else protects the weak and helpless from the strong,

and the poor and needy from those who would rob them?”

Psalms 35:10

TODAY, let your volcano of praise erupt!
