Vegetables then dessert

by Bruce Wadd

I was raised rather strictly regarding certain habits.  One that stays firmly implanted in the mind, is an eating pattern provided by my mother.

I can still hear her mantra, “You must eat your veggies before you’ll be allowed any dessert.”  I am amazed at the power of this early training, because it strongly directs my thinking and eating patterns even now.

Here is another truth worth contemplating…

“There is no salvation without grace, and no grace without suffering.”

Often in contemporary Christian circles, it’s not cool to talk about suffering, the possible sacrifices that we need to make when you're a follower of Christ.

But today, I wanted to highlight the complete suffering of Christ for you. He chose to sacrifice His life before you could do anything, so that you could have His eternal love!  What a joy-filled sacrifice!

“Yet it was because of this [His life-giving

sacrifice] that God raised Him up to the heights

of heaven and gave him a name which is

 above every other name…”

Philippians 2:9

Jesus, what do I need to sacrifice, TODAY, for you?
