Unsatisfyingly fulfilling

by Bruce Wadd

It’s a sensation!  And you’ve fallen for it!  The kids pressured you into visiting the ‘golden arches’ again.  You vaguely remember promising yourself, never again.  But here you are in line, ordering things that you just know won’t work for you.

After the obligatory listening to children tell their orders, noting the insincere ‘enjoy your meal’, and the let down of getting something half the size of the picture on the advertising board, you sit.  Eating becomes a chore until the last morsel of ‘food’ is consumed.

Exiting the building as quickly as possible, you retire to your car, preparing yourself for that guilty, ‘full but not satisfied’ feeling you’ve experienced before.  What an unpleasant place to be!

Sin presents the same scenario - pleasant, appealing, magnetically drawn to it by either circumstances or people.  Having descended to the thought and action you know is wrong, you are left with that ‘bad taste in your mouth’ - not satisfied or fulfilled, and further isolated from God!

God, in His wisdom, beckons you to a much more satisfying and fulfilling existence of living under His guidance and direction.

“…we can be finished with sin and live a good life from now on.  For His wounds have healed ours.”

1 Peter 2:24b

Today, accept the life of complete fulfilment – live in Jesus Christ!
