You may have done it once or twice in your life. Or if you are a traveller, maybe more often! Let me share a personal experience of recent times.
My wife and I took 12 days out of our lives to visit Thailand, a blessed country with such a different culture to my Australia. Because we travelled right in the midst of summer, with terrorist threats looming, as well as the SARS phenomena - the tourists numbers were well down.
On many of the day tours we were one of very few people, and thus we regularly had a tour guide almost exclusively to ourselves. We could ask lots of extra questions, and discovered many interesting things about this fascinating place.
I was reminded on this brief holiday that we really are only visiting this earth – this is just a short sojourn, as we prepare for eternity in heaven. So, we may as well enjoy the journey, as we prepare for life with God.
Here’s a great summary of our attitude towards our current world…
“Those in frequent contact with the exciting things that world offers should make good use of their opportunities without stopping to enjoy them; for the world in its present form will soon be gone.” 1 Corinthians 7:31
TODAY, enjoy the moments you have, they are leading you to eternity!
