Touched by Oscar fever

I have always wondered what it would be like to be in the crowd at the Oscar awards evening in Hollywood - screaming fans, long red carpets, stretched white limos, glittering jewellery, incredibly expensive dresses, stunning hairdos and probing media.

What is it about the stars that seem so attractive, that make people want to be in their presence? To get a glimpse, a word, a signature or even a touch? It just seems that we gain so much from these celebrities!

Jesus had that same type of magnetism while He was on earth. Without the limos, the fancy clothes and expensive jewellery He travelled through Palestine doing what he had been called to do. In fact, there were times in His travels when even His gentle passing touch would heal a person.

“…they laid the sick in the market plazas and streets,
and begged him to let them at least touch the fringes of His clothes; and as many as touched Him were healed.”
Mark 6:56

What was it that people were attracted to? Is that magnetism still drawing you today?
