This is what I want

by Bruce Wadd

Being a father requires incredible amounts of patience at times. Today was one of those days!

Harry was sitting chatting to a friend on the front balcony when his daughter Cassie interrupted the conversation.  She slunk unobtrusively to her father’s ear and whispered her obvious displeasure, quietly, so the guest could not hear.

The next moment Harry called out to his son through the security front door, instructing Chris to turn off the Playstation and informing him that they would talk later.  The resistant son questioned his father twice, and each time Harry replied, “This is what I want… and I’ll explain later!”

Finally, on the third request, Chris relinquished, and turned off the game.  Dad made the final comment regarding his son’s slowness to respond to the instruction without question.

It was a battle of the will between Harry and Chris, and it was critical that Chris learn to submit to his father’s authority.

So too with our relationship with God! He knows what He wants, and through submitting our will to him, we find the happiness planned for us.  All this for our own good!

“And yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay and you are the Potter.  We are all formed by your hand.”
Isaiah 64:8

Today, are you ready to submit to what He wants?
