They ran in

by Bruce Wadd

It’s been many months since the 9/11 tragedy, but with every terrorist attack shown on the media around the world, the memory of the terrible event is revisited.

Having seen a video clip recently I was reminded of the immense disaster facing thousands of people that early autumn morning.  Looking at the intricate detail of smoke and  dust, and the fear and disbelieve of the escaping people, I noted a disturbing yet heroic fact.

With sirens screaming and thousands of people fleeing, uniformed men and women of the fire and police rescue services ran headlong into the chaos and unknown future of the burning New York towers.  They had a job to do – rescuing those trapped and injured!

Jesus came, without hesitation, to rescue you and I from a ruined world.  He sacrificed all His authority and power, and chose to accept your sin and mine, so that we could escape.

What great news!  What an important message that needs to be shared!  Our task as Christians is to do God’s will – sharing this Good News!

“And God has given us the privilege of urging everyone

to come into this favour and be reconciled to Him.”

2 Corinthians 5:18b

TODAY, realise that you have life because Jesus sacrificed His!
