The old lady

by Laila Azer

Looking out my window, there it was - a dark cloud in the sky!  ‘Wow, it sure will rain heavily today,’ I told myself.  Immediately it did. As I watched, the people in the street were running to find shelter.

‘How can people go out in this weather without an umbrella?’ I pondered.

All of a sudden, I saw her, the old lady, walking steadily, firmly holding to her umbrella, protecting her from the rain.  She was taking slow measured steps, not caring about anything around her.  Rain was pouring, people were hurrying to find shelter, yet she held firm, trusting that she would be protected from the rain as she slowly walked home.

It got me wondering, how many of us are like the old lady?  Do you take your umbrella when you go out in the rain?

Do you reach for your Bible on stormy days, holding firmly to Jesus?  How much do you trust Him to protect you from the rain?  Do you step, knowing you will be sheltered till you reach home?

God is…

“Our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble”

 Psalms 46:1

Jesus said…

“I will never leave you nor forsake you”

 Deuteronomy 31:6

Remember the old lady when you are next facing trouble!
