That smile

by Bruce Wadd

Melissa, a first-time poker player, was learning quickly about the intricacies of the game. She continued to place her bets like everyone else, not really understanding what was happening, but willing to try.

Then came her first win. The round got down to two players, with the less experienced player betting well, still not really knowing what she had. Her opposition was bluffing, trying to get her to ‘fold’, but eventually the cards were shown, with Mel winning.

A smile from ear-to-ear appeared on her face with the realization of her first ever win. She reached out with both hands, scoop her winnings towards her.

“I could get used to this,” she commented with a beaming.

During the game the smile continued. The second and third wins were equally pleasurable. “I like doing this!” came the confidence-growing comment!

Your relationship with God can also bring a smile to your face. Constantly there can be an inner glow, because you’ve been given another chance, a new life of freedom from sin!

Melissa’s smile came from a new and pleasurable experience. Daily, from now on, you can say, “I like doing this!” reconnecting with your heavenly Father.

“It is God Himself who has made us what we are

and given us new lives from Christ Jesus.”

Ephesians 2:10

TODAY, smile… it makes people wonder what you’re on!
