That noise woke me

This morning I woke, well before sunrise with an annoying sound coming through my open window. It wasn’t loud or piercing, just constantly there. It was kind of a low rumble, like a running truck engine.

But at 4 am, how rude and unsettling!

I don’t know how long it had been going for, but it progressively seeped into my awakening consciousness like floodwater under the kitchen door. It wouldn’t go away!

So being unsettled, and not being able to go back to sleep, I got up, dressed, and went outside for a walk. After turning the first corner, I came upon a large truck pumping out drains with two diesel motors churning away.

Sometimes…God will be like that with you! He will be in the background, speaking to your conscience – the moral part of your being – reminding you of your eternal value!

Let the noise annoy you enough to get you out of your slumber. Go and seek out what God wants for your life!
