Supermarket rendezvous

by Bruce Wadd

Ever met the same person in each aisle when shopping at the supermarket?  It doesn’t seem to matter whether you speed up or slow down, as you’re wandering down the next aisle looking for another item, this person seems to show up again, going the opposite direction!

Then, with glances and smiles shared during the aisle experience, you line up in adjacent checkouts as well.  This time you can’t resist and take the opportunity to chat … about the weather, the prices of things, about the crowds in the supermarket!

It makes me wonder whether the Holy Spirit works the same way.  Does he have several people working on the same idea, dreaming similar visions – all designed to come together at a particular time in their lives for wonderful synergy and the culmination of a bigger picture.

We often call these happenings … coincidences, chance rendezvous! Hmmmm?  Could people meeting and coming together with the same Spirit be well laid plans instead?

People in the early Christian church got used to this way of living.  In fact, it was normal to see miracles regularly.  Could you live this way?  Do you already see miracles and coincidences every day?

Read the story of Philip and the eunuch as an example [Acts 9:26-40]

“… the believers learned how to

walk in the fear of the Lord and in

the comfort of the Holy Spirit.”
Acts 9:31b
