Still needs cleaning by Bruce Wadd
I got angry, really angry! I couldn’t do this painting anymore – it was frustrating me beyond belief. Very ungraciously I threw the roller and brush aside, and walked away from the painting job my wife and I had been working on for several days.
With a good night’s sleep, and an embarrassing apology to my wife, the new morning brought renewed enthusiasm. As I began looking over the unfinished job, I soon found signs of yesterday’s ‘dummy spit’.
Please look beyond my ordinary behaviour to what I want to share. Angry is OK. In my childhood home I was taught it was wrong. “You shouldn’t be angry,” my mom would say.
But slowly I have learnt that it’s not the anger that’s the problem. Rather, it's the actions spewing out of rage, because the greatest regrets later on, still need to be dealt with! In my case, the brush and roller still needed cleaning!
Yes, it took twice as long to clean this half-dried painting gear, and each minute spoke to me of painful consequences of my actions the previous day.
Are you living with anger results you don’t particularly like? Maybe you need to take responsibility for your emotions and actions and go and say sorry if you need to. It’s vital, because it will release you into the next stage of your life.
“Don’t be misled; remember that you can’t ignore God and get away with it: a man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows!” Galatians 6:7
Sow well today… especially if you are angry!
