Snow in summertime

by Bruce Wadd

Having reached autumn, and thus surviving a long hot tropical summer, it’s hard to even think about snow this time of year.

What an oxymoron!  Having snow in summertime!  But when I started my teaching career I lived in a place where the locals proudly announced upon my arrival that only a few years previously snow had actually fallen on Christmas day in Australia!  Wow!

For those living in the northern hemisphere, it is equally as hard to believe that walking around outside in board shorts and t-shirt at Christmas is possible given the freezing weather.

More importantly, though, for many of you knowing and believing God actually loves you, unconditionally, is equally as hard to accept as true. The God of the universe created you, knows you intimately, and loves you enough to send someone to rescue you from eternal death. It’s the devil that wants to stop you from discovering this truth.

Jesus Christ is the answer – He is the ‘snow in summertime’!

“For God’s secret plan, now at last made known,

is Christ himself. In Him lie hidden all the mighty,

untapped treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

Colossians 2:2b,3

TODAY, enjoy the snow… let God’s love sink deep in your heart!
