Slippery

by Bruce Wadd

What a fabulous word!!  So many different things describe this utterance.

Let me paint some pictures – picking up a fish; jelly on a wall; gripping a greased hand; a robber in the night; picking up soap in the bath.

I could go on, but you know many examples that arise in your life.  Take the slipperiest one, and ponder!!  Why is it so hard to grasp?  Isn’t it frustrating when you can’t grab it?

Here’s something to think about!  Legalism – doing things to the letter of the law – is one of the slipperiest items you will ever have to deal with.

Why?  Everything on the outside looks great.  You can’t actually define what’s wrong, but your gut tells you something just isn’t kosher.

Something’s missing?  Relationship!!

That’s right.  Next time you encounter the slipperiness of legalism, grasp it easily with both hands, by focusing on Jesus Christ and His sacrifice.

“Christ in your heart is your only hope of glory.”

Colossians 1:27

Today, hang onto the truth of Jesus!
