Sky light

by Bruce Wadd

I was walking in the pre-dawn light when I noticed the first plane for the day fly overhead.  It was still relatively dark, but the plane, which was very high in the sky, was flying in bright sunshine.  It looked spectacular!

I just wonder whether this is how we could live our Christian lives.  There seems to be this ongoing tension between being saved … being perfect before God ... and seeing how sinful and degraded we are.

We can see the light, but regularly walk in darkness.  And we seem to live this dilemma every day, only to be fully resolved at His second coming!

Here’s how Paul lived with this ongoing paradox …

“Oh, what a terrible predicament I’m in!

Who will free me from my slavery to this

deadly lower nature? Thank God!
It HAS BEEN DONE...
He has set me free.”
Romans 7:25

Therefore Paul the Apostle, a man who lived a full life, could honestly declare the following…

“But our homeland is in heaven,

where our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ is

and we are looking forward to

 His return from there.”
Philippians 3:20

Our contact with Jesus means in their darkness others will see His light!
