Sitcom laughter

by Bruce Wadd

I am convinced that it’s an American thing, but I could be horribly wrong!

Sitting and watching many different TV sitcoms becomes rather monotonous because they seem to take on a likeness to each other. One day I sat and asked why. Upon deeper investigation it became obvious that the ‘canned’ laughter made it seem false.

When you’re watching live comedy the laughter takes on a much greater reality, with intensity and timing varying with each new punch line.  But on television shows, I am convinced that it’s someone pressing a button, trying to give the affect of genuine hilarity.

Is your life like that laughter? Controlled by external forces – worldly thinking? Or is there a search for authenticity, genuineness and reality? Are the tears and laughter coming from the depth of your own experience?

Some of you may still be lured by the world’s thinking about many different aspects of living, but take some wisdom from Christ’s example of how to live…

“See, I have come to do Your will, to lay down My life,

just as the Scriptures said that I would.”

Hebrews 10:7

No button pressing sitcom laughter for me. I want the real gut-felt laughter that comes out of daily living my life in Jesus.

TODAY, let Jesus bring real laughter and joy into your life!
