Silent separation

by Bruce Wadd

My wife and I met at university, and for two and a half years lived in separate dormitories whilst getting to know each other. We had a wonderful time in our late teenage years, enjoying the new friendship.

Then upon graduation both of us decided to establish our careers, which meant choosing to live apart – a very difficult decision at the time!  One thousand kilometres and eighteen months separated us. There were many times where we yearned for each other, and the intricate memory with time.

The absence, though, made the love much, much stronger.  The desire to see each other, and to spend the rest of our lives together, increased from flicker to bushfire intensity over that period of time.

As you step into your new life as a Christian, there will be times when you feel that God is distant or even absent from your life.  This is when your love for Him will be really tested, but through believing despite the feelings, your love and trust in Him will grow.

Hang in there… the silence is building positive character!

Here is the way to live your life, even though God sometimes seems absent!

“Always give thanks for everything to our God and Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 5:20

TODAY, be thankful… even through silent separation!
