Sideline parents

by Bruce Wadd

You see it every weekend – parents taking their offspring to sport. At soccer, football, baseball, basketball, and the list is long, parents stand on the sideline watching their children play, shouting encouragement through both exciting and difficult moments.

Imagine for a moment that the youngster is playing really hard. All of a sudden they take a tough hit from the opposition. Immediately there is a reaction from the sideline. Encouragement is called, screamed, waved. The child hears, giving them motivation to get up and have another go.

Finally when the game is over, won or lost, the hysteria coming from the sideline is incredible. The parents are so excited for this rising sporting prodigy!

Amazingly God is so much greater than this! He is always cheering for you, sometimes from the sideline, sometimes standing right next to you! You can certainly rely on Him for encouragement, particularly in those tough times!

“The good man does not escape all troubles – he has them too. But the Lord helps him in each and every one.”

Psalms 34:19

TODAY, let God be your sideline supporter!
