Shake down

by Bruce Wadd

In my white sugar container on my kitchen bench I have noticed an incredibly profound ‘life’ lesson happening about once a week.

It is my task to fill this container when it’s empty. I delve into the pantry, take out the large container of sugar, half fill the scoop with white granules, and pour.

When finished filling, I never replace the lid of the sugar bowl immediately. Rather, I know there is more room, and with a gentle tap, the particles organise themselves so an amazing amount of extra sugar can fit.

Here’s the life lesson – it’s through the shaking times, those times of uncertainty and struggle, that God builds strong character! We can be so much more than we are, but it means hanging in there through difficult times, trusting God for all your needs.

Here’s a scripture to remind you… keep shaking!

“We know how happy they are now

because they stayed true to Him then,

even though they suffered greatly for it.”

James 5:11a

Hang in there through the shake down, you will fit in more life, TODAY!
