Scissors working

by Bruce Wadd

Getting married – it’s an exciting time of life!  A couple desperately wants to be together, with overflowing dreams, bursting energy and enthusiasm, and amazing love for each other - the ‘world is their oyster’.

Finally, it comes time for the happy couple to leave the ceremony.  A 'best friend' collects their car, and with plenty of hugs and kisses the bride and groom slowly drive off into the night.  The only hitch - the sound of tins and bottles bouncing along behind!

That's right!  Here, in Australia, we have a tradition where the newly married’s car has its tow bar littered with strings tied to tins and streamers, in fact anything that will make a noise!  It's crazy, I know, and a whole lot of fun!

Then as the couple depart, the waving guests smile, enjoying the departing clanging of all the tied paraphernalia.

Twenty-five years on, though, are those wedding night attachments still connected?

Today, I wanted to write to you about your relationships, particularly with your spouse, lover or someone you love.  Are there things still attached from the past that need to be let go?

God, in my twenty-fifth year of marriage, has been doing lots of cutting, painful and exposing, but bringing amazing results!  I wished I hadn't waited this long to get the scissors working!

Has God been tugging at your heart regarding a special relationship?

Remember… it's never too late to start snipping!
