Scab off by
Look at one of your scars, and remember the experience of the injury, and then recall the healing.
Being a typical farm boy, I was always outside doing something. Part of that meant having accidents and injuring myself, but luckily my mother would always be ‘the nurse’ and provide the mandatory disinfectant (ouch), ointment and band-aid or plaster.
After listening to my mum’s ‘sermon’ about letting it heal quickly by not touching the wound, I would run off to play again.
Several days would go by, then a growing urge, an indescribable temptation to pick at the hardening scab, would begin. Why, you ask? Because it was there!
By continuing to pick the scab off the injury, the healing took much longer, leaving a much more noticeable scar.
Have you had injuries in your life? Do you have scars to show for it? Or maybe you are bearing painful injuries that are emotional rather than physical?
God wants to provide healing for that hurt. But He also expects you to keep moving forward, to believe that you have received healing for your injury. If you keep revisiting the pain, ‘picking off the scab’, it’s just not going to heal as well, and take much longer. Remember...
TODAY, leave the 'scab
on' and let the healing proceed much quicker! |
