Sandy soap

by Bruce Wadd

Sand and soap don’t often mix together.  But there has been a product available for many years – Solvol – that is exactly that for many years!.  It’s been used by people who work with their hands for removing engrained dirt from a hard day’s labour. Despite its rough texture it is effective in removing the grit and grime.

I now rarely work with my hands, but I had occasion recently to do some gardening, and I was reminded of how effective that Solvol really is.  After three hours of weeding and digging my hands were well marked with soil and green plant stains.

I looked at my precious hands and wondered how I would get them back to pristine condition ready for my next meeting.  Upon arriving at the laundry sink, I noticed an old block of Solvol, looking rather underused.

“Why not give it a go?” I thought.  To my surprise within a minute of using this sandy product my hands were spotless.

There are people and circumstances in life that are a lot like Solvol – they just seem to rub us up the wrong way!  In the long term, though, it is often these people and happenings that develop our character, knocking off the rough edges, making us more 'user-friendly' Christians.

“And I am sure that God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in His grace
until His task within you is finally finished on that day
when Jesus Christ returns.”
Philippians 1:6

Today, let the Solvol experiences of life impact your character for good!
