Report card

by Bruce Wadd

It’s the end of term and school report cards are being sent home. Your child arrives with all F’s. What a disaster!

‘What’s going on?’ you immediately ask yourself, as you phone the school and talk with the administration.

We all want our kids to come home having passed, having excelled, but today I wanted to turn your thinking to failure, and maybe another way of looking at life.

Let me ask you a question… What have we got to offer the God of the universe? Very little really except ourselves!

I wonder whether ‘failed’ is the best way to approach God and get His attention. Is that when He has a real chance of shining in our lives?

Whilst you are torn between A and F, this way of living, in God, is not necessarily comfortable, but amazingly exhilarating in its freedom!

Thank Him that your report card has scribbles all over it. The F’s have been crossed out and red A+’s have been written instead. Plus a hugged ‘passed’ stamped across the middle. The fine print at the bottom it says – “Underwritten by Jesus, Saviour of this world”

“I learned God-worship when my pride was shattered.” Psalms 51:17a

TODAY, live in failure… and pass!
