Rear end insertion

 by Bruce Wadd

Growing up on a farm, my brother and I were never short on ways to have fun.  I remember in springtime the march flies would arrive.  These very large flies would buzz around, land on your skin, and inflict a piercing sting.  Luckily it didn’t last long, and they were usually easy to catch.

These flies inspired us to invent another fun activity during a warm afternoon’s wander down the paddock.  Then we would be walking through the long grass, hear a march fly and immediately stop.  We would sit down and wait for the fly to land on our leg.  Upon capturing it with our hands, without any injury, we would then break off a long piece of dry grass, insert it carefully in the back end of its body, and then let it go.

Many times they would just fall straight to the ground dead.  But there were times when the poor insects would fly away, labouring under the weight of this new appendage.

Horrible you might say, but for two young farm lads, just so much fun!

Do you often feel that you are living life labouring under the burden of things that stop you from reaching for the stars?  That you just can’t move forward or get rid of issues in your life?

It doesn’t need to be that way!

God wants you to live a life beyond the ordinary.  He wants to remove the things in your life that are holding you back, to give you “a future and a hope”, to be the extraordinary person that He has made you to be!

“…be filled instead with the Holy Spirit,
and controlled by him.”  Ephesians 5:18b

Today, let God remove any insertions, to live a life beyond expectations!
