Pub encounter

by Bruce Wadd

It had become a desperate matter … there was an hour to wait for my computer repair to be finished, and seeing I didn’t know the area, I couldn’t find a toilet.  Thus, the closest pub seemed like the best solution.

Walking through the front door of this unknown facility seemed uneventful, but right inside the front door was a student from one of my schools that I serve as a chaplain playing pool.  He was as surprised as I was to see each other in this unusual setting.

We chatted about holidays, about the surprise and I introduced myself to his parents, who he was challenging to a game.

But it was only later when I asked the much more important question – Are people watching where I go and what I do?  Because I am so glad on that day that my intent was pure!

How are you going with your encounters?  Do you have any secrets that could be discovered, that Jesus knows about but you haven’t confessed?

“Whatever they have said in the dark shall be heard

in the light, and what you have whispered

in the inner rooms shall be broadcast

from the housetops for all to hear!”

Luke 12:3
