Overspray

by Bruce Wadd

It’s a habit I’ve gotten into recently when washing both my wife’s car and my car at the same time. Normally one is parked in the garage whilst the other is in the driveway, but this time both were parked in the driveway ready for their weekly cleansing.

Having completely finished one car, washed and dried, I stood back for a brief moment to admire the glistening polished finish. I am a little eccentric when it comes to having a nice clean car!

Then it was time to start washing my wife’s car. My first task was to wet the car’s surface. Half way through this process I lifted my eyes and noticed my freshly dried car with overspray on its clean side.

I stopped immediately, knowing that if I kept going, I would only create extra work for myself, having to dry the first car a second time.

Today, I have a warning! This silly oversight reminded me of something I have experienced far too often. Having done something positive, the progress made with your life can be easily wiped out by poor choices?

Watch your life! Guard the good you do, so that it’s not undone by being drawn into temptation, with sin gradually creeping back in and spoiling the good! The clean up work often takes longer the second time, and is usually more painful!

Remember what God has done…

“I’ve blotted out your sins;

they are gone like morning mist at noon!

Oh, return to me, for I have paid the price

to set you free.”

Isaiah 44:22

TODAY, accept again the reality of your cleanliness!
