Order and pay

by Bruce Wadd

Having recently ordered a lovely new lounge suite, my wife excitedly threw out the old furniture and launched into redesigning the lounge room ready for the new items.  She did not have to think another moment about the new suite coming - it was on order!

Somewhere, somehow, there were skilled tradespeople manufacturing this new piece, ready for delivery in several weeks time.

The time flew by, the decorating plans matured, and the date grew closer for the arrival.

Then she received the phone call.  “Excuse me, madam, your lounge suite has arrived at the warehouse and we could like to deliver it tomorrow before noon.  Is that OK?” asked the receptionist.

Finally, the day had arrived.  The truck turned up, backed into the driveway, and the doors swung open, revealing two gorgeous suites.  The driver was accosted by this smiling and excited woman, ready to pay for and accept delivery of the long awaited goods.  My wife was happy - just the right colour, the right shape and the right size for the lounge room.

With the driver successfully paid, the couch was carried inside and put in place. It was now time to uncover these new products, and enjoy the moment.

God seems to work similarly.  He places an order with us, to do something in our life, planting a seed of thought a long time before arrival.  Through His grace He not only places the order, but He also provides – payment upon delivery!

Here’s Paul’s belief about our ability in God…

“For I can do everything God asks me to with the help of Christ who give me the strength and power.”
Philippians 4:13

Today, believe that what God has ordered, He can also pay for!
