Orange dryness by
Arriving home from grocery shopping my wife placed several large oranges in our fruit bowl. My mouth immediately started watering, and my mind began delving into the niceties of the flavour, texture and juice.
With my mind already dribbling with delightful anticipation, I quickly became disillusioned after the first bite. What looked to be quite luscious was actually dry and tasteless!
This is so opposite to the Christian experience. When you see a Spirit-filled Christian there is something magnetic about their persona, and you are attracted to something they have.
As you begin to allow the Holy Spirit into your life, following its direction rather than your own, you will discover the experience to be much deeper, more rewarding and more profound than you first thought. What sometimes is seen to be dry and even boring can become the most satisfying encounter you ever had.
Here’s what Jesus said,
“But the water I give them becomes a perpetual spring within them, watering them forever with eternal life.” John 4:14

Having indulged in the
mind experience, it was time for the actual eating of the fruit. I proceeded
to peel one, copping spray in the eye as the thick skin bent and squirted.
