Not what you thought

by Bruce Wadd

Choice Magazine, an Australian commercial ‘watch body’, recently ran a series of tests to bring light to the truth about food packaging and labelling. They uncovered many questionable practices of food manufacturers and advertisers. For example…

In one product – avocado dip – there was less than 1% avocado, but still they claimed it to be genuine.

Currently juice bars are having an incredible resurgence in Australia. But Choice says juice bar claims about the herbs they include as supplements are tenuous. Unless these herbs are of good quality, are added to juices in the right quantities, and then you buy and drink them on a regular basis, they’re unlikely to have much, if any, effect.

Kid’s breakfast cereals, well known for their bright and ‘in-your-face’ advertising, are so highly processed they no longer resemble the grain they started out as. The majority are fibre-flimsy, and either too sugary or too salty.

It makes me ask the question - are these companies giving us the complete picture? Can you really trust them?

Let’s apply this to your spiritual life! Your challenge as a Christian is to test the truth that you are exposed to.  The Holy Spirit’s job is to lead you into all Truth, but because we are at war – good versus evil – falsehoods often permeate our discoveries. Be wary!

Here’s a key question for you to ponder… How can you know that something is the Truth?

“When the Holy Spirit, who is truth, comes, He shall guide you into all truth, for He will not be presenting his own ideas, but will be passing on to you what He has heard.

He will tell you about the future.”

John 16:13

Remember, God’s truth is not what you thought it to be… it is much more!
