No mistakes

by Linda Messner

I’m sitting at my desk at work, reading a business card pinned on the bulletin board.  It says ‘A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel’.

I’ve just finished reading an e-mail from a good friend telling me that his daughter and her husband are getting a divorce.

Earlier this morning, I heard that another friend’s father was undergoing open heart surgery.

Last week, I got a frantic e-mail from a dear friend that asked ‘how many times can a heart break before it’s permanently damaged?’

My heart hurts for my friends.  Is God making mistakes in their lives?  Their days are ‘hemmed in prayer’, but their lives seem to be unravelling.

I don’t have answers.  But I do know that God calls me to pray for my brothers and sisters, to love them and support them.

“He holds victory in store for the upright,

He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

for He guards the course of the just and

protects the way of His faithful ones.’’

Proverbs 2:7,8

Through all of our struggles, God is in control!
