No-fruit tree

by Bruce Wadd

In my back yard there are a variety of plants and trees.  One of these is not going to survive much longer!  We call it our ‘no-fruit tree’.

Early last spring we discovered a small plant growing at the side of our garden.  It seemed quite healthy by the time we noticed it so we let it continue growing, finally recognizing it as a paw-paw tree.

Being quite fond of this tropical fruit the tree was allowed to stay.  It joined two other trees producing small delights for some fresh fruit salads.

As we watched it come into fruit-bearing season, we noticed that it didn’t have many flowers.  The other trees were producing quite freely, however this specimen gave out very small green fruit, which promptly fell to the ground.

We started to look at it differently, and began asking how much space it was taking up in our garden.  It will soon disappear if it doesn’t show more signs of productivity.

As Christians you are designed to produce fruit.  You can only do it as you look to Jesus, be obedient to what He asks, and then serve the people around you.

“Whoever lives in me and I in Him
shall produce a large crop of fruit.”
John 15:5

TODAY, become fruit bearing by looking and listening to Jesus!
