My child

by Laila Azer

Her scream tore my heart as I came rushing in the room.  “Mummy, help me!” my 4 year old daughter cried.  She had fallen from the bed while sleeping and bumped her head against the floor.  I ran to her, picked her up in my arms and held her close.

Putting her on my lap, I wiped her tears away calming her and assuring her, “It’s OK, mommy is here now”.  As she gradually stopped crying, lying there in my arms, she went back to sleep again – peacefully knowing that mommy was here.

Holding her in my arms made me think ... Isn’t that exactly what happens to us when we cry out to Jesus?  Isn’t He there all the time, loving us, watching us and most of all picking us up when we fall?

Our cries tear His heart because we are His precious children, His loved ones, the ones dear to His heart.  He is ALWAYS there to comfort us, help us back on our feet again.

How many of us trust Jesus to do so, just like my little child trusted me and slept peacefully in my arms?  All you’ve got to do is Ask.

He promised …

Call upon Me in the day of trouble;

I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

Psalms 50:15 (NKJV)
