Microwave versus marinate by
At the beginning of the 21st century the western world has become an instant society. With SMS, video phones, GPS satellite tracking, drive-thru food, the internet, a drug for almost any ailment, complete meals that just need microwaving – we are used immediacy!
Microwaves have certainly changed the way we prepare food for consumption. They can heat, defrost, cook, roast – so many things, in a much shorter time!
But only yesterday an older person reminded me of something which she maintains is best done slowly. When she is preparing some meals, especially meats, and wants a particular flavour, nothing beats the slow process of marination. She spices the food with her select flavours – lemon, for instance – and leaves it overnight to marinate!
In time the flavour subtly, yet profoundly, makes the meat ready for the succulence of cooking and finally eating.
God is not always an instant God. He regularly wants you to experience things to your core. And those happenings often take time, but become deeply etched in your life experience. They are well learnt!
Instead, be really glad – because these trials will make you partners with Christ in His suffering, and afterwards you will have the wonderful joy of sharing His glory in that coming day when it will be displayed.” 1 Peter 4:13
TODAY, let God marinate you with experience!
