Lucky boy by Karen Collum
Some children have a special teddy, others a much-loved blanket. In our house, the object of two-year-old Samuel’s affection is called ‘Bink’. Bink is a flannelette blanket, similar to those used to swaddle new born babies.
Samuel ended up with two Binks in his cot recently. Upon bedtime, he reached down and picked up one blanket, then the other. With eyes bright he exclaimed, “Mummy, two Binks - Samuel lucky boy!”
How precious was his response? He was overflowing with gratitude and contentment purely because he had two Binks.
Are we that easily pleased? Do we look at the two cereal choices in our cupboard and think how lucky we are? Do we walk to the bus stop, grateful that our legs are strong and able? Do we view the electricity bill and feel content, knowing that we have a luxury millions in the world do without?
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” Philippians 4:12
Today, consider how lucky YOU are!
