Looked at myself

 by Bruce Wadd

Have you ever been through an experience where circumstances showed glaring mistakes in your personality and your behaviour?

Recently I had to organise a major function, and after fielding many angry and frustrated phone calls, facing dissatisfied clients, and then trying to solve significant immediate issues, I walked away battered and bruised – just like finishing a rugby match!

I came home, and the mirror told me that the day wasn’t good!  Stress lines were all over the face, and the churning stomach added credence to the over-burdening sad picture.

Was I disappointed?  Mostly I was saddened by myself, disappointed in the very poor job I had done after promising so much!

What do you do with that deep-seated disappointment?  Do you find a way of soothing the pain?  Running away from it?  Drowning or messing it up with mind-altering substances?  Just watching TV?

Here’s an idea! When facing those painful moments of self-reality, keep your eyes on the Lord. He knows exactly where things are headed. Ask Him for the Truth of the situation.

Are you courageous to believe the future that God has for you?  How good is it going to be?

“Come to me and I will give you rest – all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke.
Wear my yoke – for it fits perfectly – and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble,
and you shall find rest for your souls;
for I give you only light burdens.”
Matthew 11:28-30

TODAY, look to God…and you’ll never be disappointed!!
