Long shadow distant sun

by Bruce Wadd

The long shadows of early morning were cast across the rocky path. It was autumn and my daily walk stopped for a time as I allowed the sun to penetrate my cool body.

The sun had just peeked over the hill top, and as I looked to the ground I noted the long shadows that the stones and sticks, and even the mounds of sand, were casting across the rough track’s surface.

Here’s something simple, yet profound to ponder. The new day brings long shadows when the sun is low on the horizon.

As the day progresses the shadows shorten, till in the middle of the day the shadow, particularly if you are close to the equator, is almost non-existent.

So what, I hear most of you saying! Let me tie this with your relationship with God.

It’s when God is prominent… foremost… first in your life, there is no shadow cast. You clearly represent Him!

Alternatively, when God is merely on your horizon, long shadows of doubt, confusion, sin, struggle, inactivity, etc. plague your existence.

Which would you prefer? Direct or distant sun… the choice is yours!

Here’s Joshua’s choice. It can be yours as well!

“Yes, we choose the Lord, for He alone is our God.”

Joshua 24:18b

TODAY, let God be number one in your life!
