The light of day 2

by Bruce Wadd

Building my deck has uncovered quite a few things about myself. Let me share some, at the risk of exposing my humanity!

My natural tendency is to hurry up, to get things moving, so that I can see results for the efforts invested. But my father, a long-term practical worker, had to continually remind me to slow down, to get me to, as the saying goes, “measure twice and cut once”!

Not focusing on the time taken, but rather the quality of the end of the process, is much easier said than done for me. I have great admiration for those who last the journey.

Now, when standing on and admiring the end product, my joy and gratitude overflow because the time taken to carefully secure the batons, measure and cut the timber decking has produced notable results.

Thanks Dad for helping build my character!

How’s God going with building your character? Are you letting Him do what He needs to do? Are you following His instructions?

Remember… most changes will never see the light of day, but are absolutely essential for the quality end product! YOU!

“I continually discipline and punish everyone I love;

so I must punish you, unless you turn

from your indifference and become enthusiastic

about the things of God.”

Revelation 3:19

TODAY, let Him do His work on you!
