Let it go

by Bruce Wadd

Some dogs just love to chase balls and return them to the thrower.  Our dog is no exception, enthusiastically chasing the yellow sphere around the yard.

Despite his nose not yet being finetuned for searching, when the ball is found he excitedly returns, running around me till he hears the order – ‘drop it’!

‘Fetch’ is a command he has mastered, but ‘drop it’ still needs some work. I can imagine his thinking... ‘Hang on a moment, I’ve just got this ball, why should I give it away?’ Letting go of this precious item is done very reluctantly, and sometimes not at all!

Sometimes our biggest struggle as budding Christians is to let go of things that we’ve been used to in our lives. We want our own will!

But, in simple terms, as a Christian it is my way or God’s way – there is nothing else! It is as you let go of your own will that God can really start blessing you abundantly.

Just remember...

“… you have no obligations whatever

to your old sinful nature to do what it begs you to do.”

Romans 8:12

Whenever there is a struggle, you can know that God can bless abundantly if you are obedient to His will, letting go of your will.

TODAY, however desirable your way may be… Drop it!
